As a church, we want to keep inviting one another into the mystery of a deeper life with God. We believe there is always more healing, wholeness, and joy to be found as we draw near to Him and learn to rest in His loving presence.

On Thursday, May 7th, we’re honored to host an evening with author James K. A. Smith as we explore this invitation together.

We’ll be reflecting on his newest book, Make Your Home in This Luminous Dark: Mysticism, Art, and the Path of Unknowing — a reflection on how to follow God honestly in a time when certainty feels harder to come by. Smith invites us to consider what it means to live faithfully when clarity feels out of reach — when we’re unsure what to believe, who to trust, or even how we come to know anything at all.

Drawing on the wisdom of Christian mystics like Teresa of Ávila, John of the Cross, and the anonymous author of The Cloud of Unknowing, we’ll explore a way of life rooted not in certainty, but in love. Together, they point us beyond anxiety and striving toward a deeper trust in God’s presence.

Blending philosophy, contemplation, and the arts, this evening will offer space to reflect, listen, and consider how the “path of unknowing” might open us to a more honest and attentive life with God.

This event is a partnership with Denver Institute and Denver Seminary, and will be hosted by our elder, Angie Ward. We’d love for you to join us!
