I recently switched health insurance companies and immediately scheduled a wellness visit. When I was younger, I only went to the doctor if something was awkwardly sticking out of my arm—or if I was leaking a vital body fluid after a mountain bike ride.
These days, I just like to know how I’m doing. Good news or bad, I find peace in knowing where things stand and what steps I can take toward better health.
It’s been just over two months since I officially joined the team at Platt Park Church, and I can’t tell you how grateful Gretchen and I are to be part of this community. Over the past few weeks, several friends have asked me, “So what’s Platt Park Church like?” And honestly, I’ve struggled to put it into words.
When I talked with Gretchen about it, she said something that instantly clicked: “That’s easy. Platt Park Church is different because we’re not striving.”
She nailed it. That’s us!
The heart of this community is simple: we’re a group of people leaning into encountering God in the theater of real life. Beautiful things are happening here—not because of strategies or goals—but because we’re following where God is leading us, together.
“I in you, You in me, we in You… together.” That’s the heartbeat of Platt Park Church.
And we’d love to invite you to our State of the Church Gathering on Sunday, November 2nd, right after service (11:20AM–12PM in the sanctuary).
Think of it like a wellness checkup—not for your body, but for our church family. Our leadership team will share openly about where we are as a community. Spoiler alert: we’re in an incredible place! But like any family, we also have challenges to navigate, and we want to do that transparently, with you.
For families, we’ll have childcare available for kids from birth through 5th grade. To help us prepare well—with enough workers and plenty of snacks—we’re asking you to RSVP. That same RSVP link is also the place to share any questions you might have about the church. We’ll gather those questions ahead of time and do our best to answer them in the meeting, in a FAQ document, or personally if that works best for you.
We’re excited to continue walking forward into God’s unfolding story together.
With gratitude,
James, the Leadership Team, the Elders, and Staff
