We are thrilled to share that Platt Park Church officially has a new lead pastor! James Johnson will be joining our staff team beginning July 28. We can’t wait for you to meet James, his wife Gretchen, and their children Emma and Wilson. Please join us in giving them a warm Platt Park welcome as they step into this new season with us!
With enormous joy and gratitude,
Spread Love Volunteer Fair & Bagel Bar
Sunday, August 10th, 11AM. In the Social Hall
On Sunday, August 10th we will have a Spread Love Volunteer Fair to showcase all of the areas you can get involved with Platt Park to serve within the church, the Denver community, and globally. Head down to the Social Hall after the worship service for a breakfast bagel bar and find out some areas you might be interested in. There will be people from the different serving teams and various ministries available to tell you about their areas, answer questions, and talk with you about how to get involved.
Email Anne@plattparkchurch.org with any questions.
Promotion Sunday!
August 24, 2025
Each year Platt Park Church celebrates Promotion Sunday — a time to recognize all of the members of our community who are involved in schools — as students, teachers, administrators, or support staff.
On Promotion Sunday we recognize the 1st graders who are moving up to Kids’ Club, the 6th graders who are joining the Middle School Youth Group, and the 9th graders who are moving up to the High School Youth Group. After the service we’ll head out to the sideyard for a Promotion Party! Come celebrate with us!
Group Camping Trip
September 12-14, Meadows Group Campsite
Want to go camping with Platt Park Church? Join us September 12–14 at Buffalo Creek!
We’ve reserved a beautiful group site at Buffalo Creek, and we’d love for you to join us for a fun and relaxed weekend in the great outdoors! This is a true group camping trip—meaning we’ll all be camping in the same place at the same time, but you’re in charge of your own adventure.
Even better? It’s free! You just bring your own food, water, cooking gear, and camping supplies—whether you’re in a tent or a camper, you can make it your own. Choose your own mealtimes, set your own pace, and enjoy the freedom of doing camp your way while still being part of the community.
We’ll have a shared firepit for gathering, and Platt Park Church will provide firewood and s’mores supplies for everyone to enjoy in the evenings. On Sunday morning, Charlie will lead a worship service around the campfire before we pack up and head back to Denver.
The campsite has plenty of space, a port-a-potty, and trash receptacles, and the area is perfect for families—there are beautiful rocks for kids to climb and lots of open space to explore.
So pack your gear, mark your calendar, and get ready for a weekend of connection and outdoor fun with your Platt Park Church family!
Pastoral Care
Are you, or is someone you know, in need of pastoral care? We all have times in life when we need support. Sometimes that support is in the form of meals or a hospital visit. Sometimes that support looks like someone to listen and pray with you. Our Pastoral Care Team would love to come alongside you and care for you in this time. Click the button to fill out a prayer request and mark “yes” for someone to contact you. You are so loved.
Join Labor of Love Volunteer Team!
Are you a fixer? Do you love to repair things? Do you want to learn some home improvement skills? We meet the second Saturday of each month at 8:30AM in the Parlor for donuts, coffee, and chatting and then head out to do jobs around the church.
This is a great way to hang out with other people who love home repair and learn more about specific projects. Click here to join the group. Thank you for spreading love in our community and helping us take care of this beautiful building!
Assisi Group 2026
Our next trip to Assisi, Italy will be in May/June of 2026. If you are interested in being a part of this study and travel group, click here to email Charlie@plattparkchurch.org and receive more information.

The Daily Practice
The Daily Practice is a devotional tool from Platt Park Church for developing the habit of daily time with God.
Learning to love God takes practice. Just like exercising a muscle, our hearts are trained to love from the bottom up, through the formation of our habits and practices. Discipleship is about curating our hearts to love God and the things that God loves. Forces of our culture train us to love things other than God all the time, but spiritual practices help us to be attentive and intentional about what my heart really loves and desires. Following Jesus is more a matter of hungering and thirsting than of knowing and believing and it is our habit forming practices that form our desires over time. May this daily practice tune your heart to sing His praise.

The APPLE TREE CLOSET is open for shopping! Beautiful, upscale women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories are regularly donated to us by Common Threads on South Pearl and you can purchase them for a fraction of their original price.
Students and those with low income can even shop for free! The proceeds from this ministry benefit our Benevolence/Blessing Fund. Come check it out on the lower level!
(Due to space limitations we are no longer accepting donated items from the congregation).
Blessing Team
Did you know that our church has a “Blessing Team?’” This is a group of dedicated individuals who are available to help meet the needs of people in our faith community. Our role is to support and encourage through a variety of means such as providing meals, financial assistance, visitation, and prayer.
Do you know of someone in need? Please let us know.
