The Platt Park Church community has been privileged to work alongside ministry partners in Nepal since our church began. Through the years we have sponsored large conferences for Christian women and pastors, trained business leaders, provided sewing machines for women learning new skills, helped build a church in Kathmandu, provided flood relief for victims in the far West and food for earthquake victims. Folks from Platt Park Church have visited Children’s Homes in Nepal bringing suitcases full of clothing and gifts for the children.
In 2018 Daya International was formed by Platt Park members to meet a need for providing educational opportunities for marginalized women and youth in Nepal. Focusing largely on college scholarships, we have celebrated dozens of students who have graduated with degrees that afford them the skills for meaningful employment in Nepal. These students would not have had this opportunity without the generosity of our community.
Now we are sensing God’s leading to expand our ministry in Nepal by partnering with three Children’s Homes to provide food, clothing, shelter and education to vulnerable children. We are stepping forward in faith that you will continue to partner with us as we proceed. We have the opportunity to come alongside these kids and raise them from lives of abject poverty to contributing members of our global society. In a predominantly Hindu nation, many of these children have already committed their lives to following in the footsteps of Jesus and are serving in their local church. Both their lives and ours are being transformed in the process.
If you’d like to learn more about how you can become a partner of Daya International, members of our Board will be outside in the side yard after the service this Sunday, August 3 and would love to talk with you or you can click here to join our mailing list. You can also visit our website at http://dayainternational.org.
On Sunday, August 10th we will also be hosting our ministry partner Udaya Bhatta who is visiting from Kathmandu. Please join us for lunch in the Parlor at 11:30AM to learn more about his work with children and youth in Nepal. If you know you are joining us, please click here to email me and RSVP – but walk-ins are welcome!
I am so grateful for the continuing support of Platt Park Church and people like you who care about others who need our help. Thank you!
With gratitude,
